A life in shambles

Lyr might be a powerful elven lord in charge of thousands, but his personal life is a disaster. Just the month before, a daughter he’d never known existed arrived from Earth, giving him news of his lost love’s death. Since then, he has been betrayed, captured, and almost murdered. And though his enemy was defeated, Lyr’s wounds never seem to heal. He certainly doesn’t need more conflict.

A perilous journey

Amid the glittering perfection of Alfheim, Meli is a dismal failure. Haunted by visions of people and places she’s never seen, she struggles to find her place. So when her king orders her to lead an expedition to another world, Meli is caught between shock and terror. How can she navigate the Veil between worlds with no magic of her own? But with Alfheim threatened by strange, dark energy, she has no choice.

A threat that spans worlds

The last thing Lyr expects is the arrival of the Ljósálfar, the reclusive Norse elves of Alfheim. More surprising? One among them, Meli, is a possible soulbounded, a link he’d believed lost with his previous love. But wounded and besieged with problems on every side, he can’t let himself be distracted. Poisoned energy is flooding into the closely connected realms of the fae, causing sickness, and Lyr must rush to find the source of the threat.

Only Moranaia remains untouched—leading Lyr to suspect one of his own people might be to blame.

**Some Spoilers**
The first book had me a little confused because of all the different characters you had to follow. But as I got into the second book it became clear as to why there were so many different characters and it was much easier to follow and understand. As I got deeper into this book the more interesting it got. The first book was more about Kai and Arlyn. This book went more into Lyr and him meeting his new soulbound.

The end of the first book Lyr was paranoid. I totally understand why he was. Going into the second book you learn he was also scared to go into the Library. Well don't really scared, more or less he wanted to avoid it at all cost because it always seems to bring up the memory of him almost losing his mother. Now we learn about the poison from the first book. Now it has seem to touch Alfheim. A realm all to itself. They pride themselves. They didn't want to ask for help but the older seer insisted on it. She also insisted on Meli, a women with no magical ablilities to lead the people through the veil. This guy named Poi who was apart of the group showed Meli that should could and gave her these runes they only work for her. Through the course of her life she has had dreams of a man with green eyes. She didn't know who it was until she met Lyr. Now they both think they have seen each other before. Come to find out they have. And Lyr and Arlyn didn't want to believe it at first. Lyr doesn't really care that Amiee his old lover has been reincarnated. Yes he misses her but he is in love with Meli.

So we found out Kein, the prince who has been banished is the one causing the problems because he wants to come back and take over the throne. He feels a seer shouldn't be in control. Then Kai finds his father in all this mess.

The book was amazing and I am glad I read it. Kai and Arlyn are the best. Their relationship is amazing. Even though it was kinda forced. But Arlyn went through it. I think Lyr and Meli make a wonderful couple as well and I am glad she went through the bounding as well. I am excited to see what is in store for them next since Ralan said that they will be fighting Kein another day. Is anyone going to die? Will they actually stop him? So many questions left unanswered.

A deathbed promise

Arlyn’s quest is simple: Find her father and let him know her mother is dead. After all, Arlyn had promised her mother she’d go. The problem? Her father's people are myths and legends, and he doesn't even live on Earth. But despite a long journey through the mysterious mists of the Veil, finding him turns out to be the easy part.

A dream long-buried

After five hundred years, Kai has given up on finding his soulbonded. So when he stumbles across Arlyn after returning from his latest mission and recognizes her as his mate, Kai starts their bond in haste. But he never could have imagined that his bonded is his best friend’s newfound daughter. Whoops.

A hidden conspiracy sparked to life

Though the sight of Kai makes Arlyn’s heart pound, she isn’t sure she can forgive him for starting their bond without her permission. But her love life is the least of her problems. Her father is an elf lord, and his sudden acknowledgment of a half-human heir reignites the same conspiracy that took him away from her mother in the first place. Now Arlyn and her family must face iron wielding assassins, bigotry, and her newly awakened magical abilities if they hope to come through in one piece.

Arlyn thought she would return to Earth after meeting her father. Now she must fight to save the family she never knew she wanted.

Soulbound by Bethany Adams was a pretty decent read. I enjoyed what was going on in the story. I want to read the rest of the series to know what is going to happen between Kai and Arlyn.

The book is about this girl names Arlyn. She comes from earth to the elven lands to find her father Lyr. Her father didn't even knew she existed till up until the point she founds him. His soulbounded didn't tell him that she was going to be having a child. Growing up Arlyn heard all different kinds of stories about her father from her mother. Well she meets her father and returns to pick up her stuff in the woods and runs into Kai. Kai finally finds his Soulbounded. So without thinking he started the process. So not only does he not know the whole situation but he pretty much just caused a big problem without knowing. Though they all end up getting along and she is excepted into the home. She really starts to fall for Kai. Then everything slowly falls apart. The whole someone trying to assassinate Kai and then Kai's father is actually are really messed up dude in the head. But everything in the end turns out really well!

Arlyn is great. She is not a damsel in distress and she consistently reminds everyone of that. She doesn't like being bossed or pushed around. She is a little shy at first but she does warm up to them it may take time. Well with being in a new area and a new set or rules and formalities. I can understand why she is so withdrawn. Kai, is your hot not so average elf. Muscles, black hair, and eyes to just die for. He is very protective over Arlyn but that is to be expected since she is his soulbound. But he lets her do her thing. Sometimes he says things and she doesn't approve, but they both seem to love each other and it is adorable.

Everything that was going for this book was great. The concept was great. The only thing that I did not like was there were to much going on to really keep up with. So many different characters to keep up with. Don't get me wrong it was still a great read and you all should pick it up and give it a go! I can't wait to read the next books <3.

Text Zpsktsyexnr by Mewberry-Chan
Stolas by Randi Cooley Wilson was an amazing read! There were so much stuff in this book that will make you want more. I didn't want this book to end. The love that was brewing over between Hope and Stone had me going all over the place. I wanted them to date, to be together even though I know they couldn't. Well in Stolas's eyes they couldn't, but there is always a way around it. He just hasn't found it yet.

Stolas is about a girl named Hope and a guy named Stolas. All her life she thought she was mentally ill. She could see things no one else could see. She was put in a place called Shadowbrook, a home for the mentally ill. While there she met a girl named Avi who claimed she was the daughter of Lilith and her roomie Lore. Then she went on to meet Lev and Vassago. She thought they were just as crazy as she was. One night she was out after curfew and was walking outside when she saw this guy sitting there in the cold and snow. He disappeared and reappeared to her in the piano room. There on her whole entire world turned upside down. Stolas is the prince of the Nine Circles, the son of Lucifer. His mission was to bring Hope, who is an oracle to join the dark souls. Well he does just that. But she still doesn't believe him. She still thinks she is mentally ill and that she was kidnapped. It took a while for her to believe. But once she actually did her feelings for Stolas grew and the feelings for Hope grew. But Stolas knew better, she was a human, and he was a demon. There was no being together. But she wants to save him, so she will do everything in her power to be with him.

The book was amazing. The characters were amazing. Stolas was a huge huge ass, but he is a prince of hell and a demon so I can completely understand. There were parts of the book where I was scared for Hope. But she is a strong women and she stuck it out and didn't back down. The bad thing about this book was the ending. I am definitely not going to spoiled that for anyone who wants to read the book. But the ending had me throwing a fit. Still an amazing book and I cannot wait for the second one.

The boy leaned closer. Coren risked another glance at his face, expecting to find the widened pupils, the swollen lips of desire and anticipation.
But it was worse than that.
He stared at her intently, gray-blue eyes narrowed and full lips slightly upturned in conquest.
Claim them with a kiss. The hunt’s opening speech echoed in her mind.
He pulled her closer, and she stopped moving entirely, going limp. Playing dead. He thought this was a game, like all the others did.
Then she allowed her lips turn up in a grim smile. It certainly was a game. The boy just didn’t realize that her rules were different, and he was about to lose.
Her tongue reached into the cavity of her cheek and retrieved the plump goshen berry hidden there. As his lips neared, Coren broke the berry against her teeth, bracing for the instant burn. Then, tongue searing, she shoved the pulp past his opened lips, preventing the claim.
He burst away, the shock of the acidic berry sending him stumbling backward, swiping drool from his slack jaw.
And she ran, darting around him and ignoring the pain and the blisters that were already bubbling and popping on her tongue and lips. Reaching the cliff, she hazarded a glance over her shoulder. He was tougher than expected, for he was crossing the plain too, moving quickly through the sandy grass.
“Stop!” he yelled hoarsely. Strangely, he was grinning widely, lips blackened with goshen juice and bright blood. Coren had no more ground left, but out of curiosity, she paused to watch as he approached. He walked softly now, as though she were a beast he was cornering. Perhaps he was a real hunter, after all.
Even so, the berries had stopped him, making the kiss forfeit. She could claim he hadn’t actually caught her.
“So…goshen berries?” he asked, wiping away more blood with the hem of his white shirt. “I must be the first hunter ever to receive that treatment.”
Coren’s brain nagged at her to escape, but something in his grin made her ask. “Why the first?”
“Because surely no one has ever caught you before. And I can’t imagine another girl willing to martyr her own lips just to avoid a small kiss.”
He was very close now: not quite near enough to grab her, but mere steps from it. She stepped back carefully, heels nearly hanging off the edge of the cliff.
“Nothing is small when it is against your will.” She watched his eyes widen as he processed the words, and then she bent her knees and pushed away from the earth, arcing back and out into the void, then straight as an arrow toward the water below. His shout was erased by the wind rushing past her ears, and then the water closed over her head with a crash.
Under the surface of the sun-warmed water, Coren somersaulted quickly and reversed directions. She surfaced only to locate the face of the cliff and gulp a breath, and she didn’t dare look up to see if he had spotted her. Ducking back under the waves, she stroked hard against the current, finally feeling rock. Her lungs throbbed as her head bobbed up again, but she was safely inside the hidden sanctuary.

The end of an Empire, the rise of a Queen

Emory Fae enjoys leading a quiet, normal life. That is until two mysterious, and handsome soldiers show up at her apartment, and the life she knew is instantly whisked away. Memphis Carter and Brokk Foster come from the magical and war ridden world of Kiero, and upon Emory's arrival she will discover she is the long-lost heir to the Royal Line and is thrown into the Black Dawn Rebellion with a dynamic role to ignite the rebels and reclaim her throne.

With both men being darkly woven in her past Emory uncovers hidden secrets, a power held long dormant, and will soon realize there are worse things than supernatural humans, love, loss, betrayal, and a Mad King.

Some things are better left in the shadows

Text Zpsktsyexnr by Mewberry-Chan
Black Dawn is the first book tin the series by Mallory McCartney. It was a really good read and with it being a short story so much has happened in the book. It was a really amazing story. I was confused at first during the beginning with the Prologue and then the start of the book but once I understood what was going on I enjoyed it just as much as the next person. My one concern is there were so many different people. I do love all the points of views but I really didn't get to know everyone within that short bit of time during the book. I guess that is why I was so confused at first cause you were throw into multiple perspectives.

Black Dawn is placed in a fantasy world called Kiero. Everyone here has unique abilities. A king named Adair took the throne by force by killing almost everyone in the fae line. "Almost". The last person in the fae line is Emory Fae. She asked her friends Brokk and Memphis to send her away so she doesn't get killed. But thus leaving behind her world and her friends to fight this mad man. Not everyone is to happy about her return, they are upset because she just left them to fend for themselves. Brokk and Memphis on the other hand are glad to see her.

Which this book I don't seem to have a favorite character yet. I do like Nyx because she has that bad ass attitude. I also felt sorry for what she was going through with Memphis. But then she kind of pissed me off because of what she did but I should of known she was going to do it. Emory was another character who I like because even though with everything that was going on she actually didn't try to leave like she said she was going to do in the beginning. She trucked it all out which gave her the "I am in for the long haul" trophy. Brokk was another character that I enjoyed reading about. I also felt sorry for him because of what Memphis did. But learning about his and Emory's story kind of made me sad.

One other thing that had me dislike Memphis is because of what he did to Emory and Brokk. But this love square thingy has to go and I think it did when I found out the story about Brokk and Emory. Now that just makes me mad cause through the whole beginning I was hoping it would be Brokk and Emory. But that went out the door freaking faster that I could say banana. The other thing is I felt like the ending was a bit rushed in my opinion. But with everything that was going on in a short amount of time I can understand. Other than that it was a great read and I cannot wait for the next book.

There is no such thing as happily ever after. Everything Charlotte Winston thought she knew has been thrown out the window. From the moment she opens her eyes, the world she remembered ceases to exist, and in its place is a post-apocalyptic realm filled with unimaginable dangers. And one very smoking hot guy who has an uncanny ability to make her blood sing, then boil in a blink of an eye. Dash Darhk is everything her parents would hate. He's six feet and two inches of dark temptation and a killer smile, that's surely left a stream of broken hearts in his wake. But her parents are nowhere to be found. Charlotte is alone in this new world. Destroyed by a toxic mist, the land isn't the only thing altered, but the inhabitants as well. As Charlotte begins the hunt for her family, gifts she's never fathom awake inside her. And with the gifts come problems. Enormous ones. Charlotte is running out of options and places to hide. If she can't figure out who to trust-and fast-she will lose more than her heart. Fans of Hunger Games, The 100, and Divergent will fall in love with Slumber.

Text Zpsktsyexnr by Mewberry-Chan
Slumber is book 1 to hopefully a long series. I have enjoyed ever single book J.L Weil has published. So when I got a chance to get this book and review it I was super excited. Once I started I could not stop. The book was amazing. Everything about it blew me away.

Charlotte wakes up from a long sleep. It was like a sleeping beauty moment. Dash, the handsome young prince who breaks into these facilities that hold all these people during their slumber. Finds her and he couldn't help himself. He had to kiss her which in turns wakes her up from her long slumber. He saves her from being caught by the Night Guard. But while she was running for her life with this man everything she sees, knows and loves is no more. Her whole entire world just gets turned upside down. While Dash ins looking for his family, Charlotte convinces him to take her along so he can help her find her family. They have this connection that they keep denying until Dash confesses something that throws everything out the window.

Charlotte is by far my favorite character. She has all these different powers and she doesn't take crap for crap. She puts her foot down when she needs to and that is what I like about her. Dash is another character I favor. Despite what he told Charlotte he still is a book boyfriend that I would want.

The way it ends and how it ends makes you want to read more. I cannot wait for the second book to come out. Whatever happens in the second book all I got to say someone better save someone or I am going to throw something.

Join Melissa as she sinks into a world of old feuds and ancient magic.

 photo text_zpsktsyexnr.png
This was a very long historical fiction read. But I enjoyed every minute of it. I usually don't read historical fictions. This one by far was the first. Claire Warner did a wonderful job with this book and I hope there is more  to come.

It was indeed different when we talk about immortals. Usually immortals come to be because of like vampire-ism, or being a bad ass warrior or something else like that beyond the sorts. But in this book being an immortal you get it from this beautiful brooch in the shape of a black lotus. But in order to stay healthy and fit, you must put your wounds onto another. You have to make the person look into the lotus and they take on all your wounds.

I love Melissa, she hated how the world ways. She hated the fact her reputation was always on the line. She wished she was born a male so she didn't have all those things to worry about. None the less she was born a female so now she has to deal with it. With her falling for Justin, it is who she wanted to be with. She loved him. But everyone told her otherwise, and she hated every moment of it. You would get lucky if you married to the man you feel in love with. It is all about reputation. If that was me I would feel the same way.

The Black Lotus by Claire Warner is about the lovely Melissa. She steps into the world of seasons to try and find a husband. That will be liked by her family and have a good reputation. But just like other females. She falls for Justin Lestrade, a cad, a womanizer, someone who doesn't care for anything. Until he meets Melissa, both of their worlds change. Justin didn't want to bring her into his world. He didn't want to ruin her reputation. But she wanted him and as did he. After being accused for something he didn't do, he was banished. He was happy in a sense because then he can leave and Melissa can find someone better suit for her and her family to be happy with. It didn't go well, Emily, someone who is just like Justin, brought her into their world anyway. Now she is but like the rest of them. Now Justin has to work extra hard into finding a cure.

Lexi was by far amazing. I love how Ednah made her with a bad ass attitude and the fact that she didn't fall for Storm so quickly. She really showed her feelings very well. I could tell she was happy with where she was at. She was scared and pissed off. She wanted to get back home to her brother and to make sure he got that surgery. But if that was me I would want to too. Storm on the other hand love toying with Lexi. He couldn't get enough of her. He was very clingy and happy. He was so happy that he found his mate. Storm wanted her to understand but she just didn't want to, she wanted to go home.

Ednah Walters always knows how to get me to nonstop read in one day. I loved her Runes series of books. This book was another one that I definitely did not want to put down. I was hooked when I read the first couple of paragraphs. I never read a book about Pirates and mates, so it was something new to me and she blew it out of the water for me. I can't wait to read more of her books. I especially can't wait for book two. She never disappoints me.

Dragons. Right. Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales, and sixteen-year old Elena Watkins was no different. Until the night a fairy tale killed her father. Now Elena’s in a new world, and a new school. The cutest guy around may be an evil dragon, a Prince wants Elena’s heart, and a long dead sorcerer may be waking up to kill her. Oh. And the only way Elena’s going to graduate is on the back of a dragon of her own.

Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales. Now it’s time for Elena to believe – in herself.

Text Zpsktsyexnr by Mewberry-Chan

Firebolt by Adrienne Woods was about a girl named Elena. Her and her father have been on the run for most of their lives. Until one day the people or should I saw dragons they were supposedly running from caught up to them. They killed her father and she barely survived herself. The person that they were going to meet took her to this placed called Paegeia. She was put into a world she couldn't believe in. Her little mind could process the fact that dragons and magic were real. Here she is struggling to learn all the subjects they are teaching in this school.

To be honest, this was an under alright book. The beginning of the book was the best. It had me going. I was excited to see what was going to happen next. Then all of a sudden it went down hill from there. Most of the book was about her going to school and dealing with classes. He even "falls in love" with the price of Tith the first week she has been going to school. It was way to slow and dragged on. The ending was good when things started to pick up again.

Elena was the main character in the book and I felt as though her character was undeveloped. She was very annoying. There was nothing amazing about her at all. There is so much potential in this book. The other characters were the same way. I just could not get into them like I wanted to. The relationship between Elena and Lucian was unreal and made to quickly.

The ending of this book wanted me to read more. So that is what I will do. I will go to the second book and continue on from there.

Karina didn’t set out to free the Seelie Queen’s gallowglass. Now she’ll do anything to keep him.

After Karina and her brother, Chris’s, lives fall apart in separate yet equally spectacular ways, they leave New York behind and head to the UK. Karina buries herself in research for her doctoral thesis, all the while studiously not thinking about the man who broke her heart, while Chris—who’d been a best-selling author before his ex-fiancée sued him for plagiarism—drinks his way across the British Isles.

In Scotland, they visit the grave of Robert Kirk, a seventeenth- century minister who was kidnapped by fairies. No one is more shocked than Karina when a handsome man with a Scottish brogue appears, claiming to be the Robert Kirk of legend. What’s more, he says he spent the last few hundred years as the Gallowglass, the Seelie Queen’s personal assassin. When they’re attacked by demons, Karina understands how dearly the queen wants him back.

As Karina and Robert grow closer, Chris’s attempts to drown his sorrows lead him to a pub, and a woman called Sorcha. Chris is instantly smitten with her, so much so he spends days with Sorcha and lies to his sister about his whereabouts. When Chris comes home covered in fey kisses, Karina realizes that the Seelie Queen isn’t just after Robert.
Can Karina outsmart the Seelie Queen, or is Robert doomed to forever be the Gallowglass?

She grew up in the wilds of Western Massachusetts and had read every book in the local library by age twelve. (It was a small library). An early love of mythology and folklore led to her epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Parthalan, and her day job as a cubicle monkey helped shape her urban fantasy, Copper Girl. When she’s not writing about things that go bump in the night (and sometimes during the day) she’s working on her MFA in Creative Nonfiction.
