An orphan with no clan that will claim him, Wren Tigarian grew to adulthood under the close scrutiny and mistrust of those around him. A forbidden blend of two animals - snow leopard and white tiger - Wren has never listened to anyone when there was something he wanted. Now he wants Marguerite. Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent U.S. senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live. Like her mother before her, she has strong Cajun roots that her father doesn't understand. Still, she has no choice but to try and conform to a world where she feels like an outsider. But the world of rich and powerful humans is never to meet the world of the Were-Hunters who exist side by side with them, unseen, unknown, undetected. To break this law is to call down a wrath of the highest order. In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their very souls...

Unleash the night is a part of the Dark-Hunterverse series and tags along after what happen in “Night Play” Were-Hunter #1. I enjoyed this story just as much as the other stories I have read in this series, but this one didn’t appeal to me the most. I will tell you why shortly. Kenyon does an amazing job with all her books, and I can never seem to put them down. This book I read all the way until 3am and was freaking tired in the morning.

The main characters are Wren Tigerian and Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau. Wren is a busboy for Sanctuary, Home of the Howlers. Wren, a guy with dreadlocks, who doesn’t talk much and produces this threating aura so people can stay the heck away from him. Marguerite, a gentle soul, the daughter of a senator, and someone who doesn’t like when she can’t control her own life. Marguerite is a friend of Nick and she misses him dearly, this book takes place a couple of months after “Seize the Night”, when something terrible happens. Once Marguerite meets Wren her life goes up and down hill and all around.

Wren is a hybrid, part tiger/part snow leopard, a disgrace to the Were-Hunters. Wren doesn’t trust any living soul that comes around him unless it is Marvin, his pet monkey. Nick talked with Wren and played pool with him, but Wren never really talked back. But once Maggie comes around, Wren’s whole demeanor changes. He stops, ok not really stops, but he calms down a bit and isn’t as aggressive unless something were to happen to Maggie.

What I liked about this book was, even though Maggie and Wren weren’t meant for each other, they still wanted to be with each other. Mates or not. This story was very heartfelt and loving. I felt extremely sorry for Wren and what is family did to him, but in the end he was happy. Though the wounds are there he will get through them with Maggie.

Despite my favorite character Acheron was missing and we got to see Savitar in action. Who is probably another one of my favorite characters, because he is funny. The one thing I didn’t quite understand is, if Fang was there and Vane did marry Bride. How come no one remembers this and it was so bad when Wren was with Maggie? That is the one thing that struck me cold, maybe I am missing something?
